PAPER II : GENERAL STUDIES, ESSAY AND COMPREHENSION - 200 MARKS.
In this paper, candidates are allowed to write the Essay Component in English or Hindi, but the medium of Precis Writing, Comprehension Components and other communications/ language skills is English only.
Although , a candidate needs only 50 marks out of 200 to qualify Paper-2. But for qualifying combined written cutoff and getting place in Merit list , one need to score as much high as possible. In this blog be will be discussing important tips for different sections of PAPER-2.
TIPS FOR ESSAY WRITING [80MARKS]
- Essay carries 80 marks out of 200. So it's a significant part of your paper 2.
- Before writing a essay , start making points about the topic by brainstorming. Think of all possible dimensions and start writing down words which are related to the topic. For example, if a question on women empowerment is asked, points/words may be patriarchy, low representation, 33% reservation, dowry, employment, financial freedom, etc.
- After writing as many words possible, start framing sentences in order to suit the introduction, body and conclusion.
- Introduce with simple quote or definition or a story which defines the topic.
- The body must contain a brief overall description how, why, when, etc of all the facets of the topic.
- Conclusion must have the solutions or the suggestions from your side with regard to the topic.
- I will suggest you to focus on some static and current topics. Make some notes on important topics.
- Like , for static portion- Women Empowerment/Naxalism/Water Crisis/Farmers problems/Education problems in India etc... are common topics to be prepared.
- For current portion- Try to focus on topics in news between January 2023 to May 2023. Make notes on top 20 important current issues in news.

TIPS FOR ARGUMENTS WRITING[40MARKS]
- Make a habit of reading newspaper.
- Watch Sansad Tv debate topics on YouTube.
- Prepare some notes on Most debatable topics in news.
- Write a Good Introduction of around 30 words.
- In body 4-6 Qualitative arguments are recommended in each favor and against.
- Writing a balanced conclusion of 30 words is optional.
TIPS FOR REPORT WRITING[20MARKS]
- Do follow proper format.
- Write report in 3/4 paragraphs.
- Use statistics/current data/ report/indexes/name of Ministers/organizations etc.
- Don't give your personal opinion.
TIPS FOR PRECIS WRITING[15MARKS]
- Understand the given para fully.
- Make some rough structure before writing.
- Write exactly in 1/3rd words +- 10 words.
- Don't just copy- paste , use Synonyms and Direct - Indirect speech in framing points.

TIPS FOR READING COMPREHENSION[20MARKS]
- It's only understand your level of reading/understanding/writings answers - from given passage.
- So, don't deviate from passage given.
- Don't use outside knowledge .
- Write answer within the limitations of passage.
TIPS FOR GRAMMAR [25MARKS]
- It's the most scoring part of paper.
- Go for Bakshi / Plinth to paramount volume-1 + do practice from previous year or mock tests available .
- Solving Previous year grammar sections helps alot in this section.. mostly you find repeated Phrasal verbs/grammar questions.
- Do practice of writing proper answers without any error.
- Learn some important Phrasal verbs either from any book or using google/youtube.

PRACTICE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT KEY TO SUCCESS...
DO PRACTICE WRITING ANSWERS ON DAILY BASIS IN LAST THREE MONTHS.
